Diggin’: Etta Baker’s “Carolina Breakdown”

Etta Baker has been playing guitar since she was three, and it’s obvious. Carolina Breakdown is one of her best. Maybe it’s because I can’t listen to it without tapping my feet. Maybe it’s because the melody gets stuck in my head all day. Or maybe I’m a bit partial to anything with “Carolina” in the title. I first took a listen to Carolina Breakdown after a woman from France expressed interest in Etta for her blues website. I listened and haven’t stopped tapping my feet since. Although I’m the newbie around here, I’m hoping to become more familiar with Etta and her story.

Etta is my favorite MM artist. She was a lovely lady as well as talented. I loved and will always remember visiting her with Timmy. She adored Tim.
