Listen: Dap-Walk

At New Orleans Jazz Fest Tim ran into an old friend, rhythm and blues legend Ernie Vincent. A fixture of the New Orleans music scene for years, after Katrina, he received help from Music Maker. He never forgot the kindness and upon seeing Tim, the two discussed beginning to work together again. Since then, we have helped Ernie register with Sound Exchange, a digital performance rights organization that collects and distributes digital royalties on behalf of artists. MM Community Coordinator, Cornelius Lewis has registered the majority of active partner artists to benefit from this additional revenue stream. Ernie has some classic cuts that he has recorded over the years, the most famous of which is “Dap-Walk,” an infectiously funky cut with a toe tapping groove and smoking hot horns. At the beginning of the song, he issues a command, “Get up brothers and do any dance that’s groovy to you!” When he speaks, its hard not to listen.
