Folk Revivalist Patrick Sky Gets a Revival Of His Own

The Folk Revival movement of the 1940s, 50s, and 60s played an integral role in our ability to look back at our musical traditions with reverence.
Known for producing several Mississippi John Hurt records, in addition to his own playing and songwriting, Music Maker partner artist Patrick Sky continues to be a vital part of musical history.
Sadly, what little monetary success Patrick had was stolen by record companies. Music Maker provides Patrick a monthly stipend through our Sustenance Program.
Now 75, Patrick resides with his wife in rural Western Carolina and has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.
Last year we donated a car to Patrick so that he could make it to his doctors appointments.
This year we are thrilled to be releasing Patrick’s latest album, entitled Many a Mile. Originally recorded in 1994 this album showcases his ability to perform some of our deepest music, continuing to preserve the traditions of the genre in a modern culture.
I spoke with Patrick recently and asked if the monthly money and car was helping and he responded, “I don’t know what I’d do without Music Maker.”
