Listen: Will the Circle Be Unbroken
I love the Henderson Brothers’ album, Rugby, VA. Wayne and Max Henderson’s only recording together, it includes classic bluegrass, and as Tim puts it “is just killer.” It’s on heavy rotation in the Everett-Belch house, being some of the only music all family members can agree on.
When I got the album I was excited to see that Rugby, VA includes one of my favorite, classic tunes: “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.” I love the instrumental version the Henderson Brothers perform for its simplicity and familiarity. The popular Christian hymn, originally written by Ada R. Habershon with music by Charles H. Gabriel, is actually featured prominently on one of my guilty-pleasure TV shows, Pretty Little Liars. It’s a major clue of the completely confusing mystery that the series revolves around – in the show I think it’s meant to be creepy and sinister, but I always feel happy and comforted when I listen to it. Which is helpful, since trying to figure out the twisting plot of that teen drama is making my eyes hurt. I need some comfort.
Check out the Henderson Brother’s version of “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.” Their album is officially released on September 3rd, and will be for sale on the Music Maker shop.
