It’s hard to imagine where Music Maker would be without the help of dedicated advisory board member and musical genius Taj Mahal. For twenty years Taj has served as a musical director, networker, and all around guru to Music Maker for one reason – he believes in the artists and the music we are trying to promote and preserve. On this version of Spike Driver Blues from our 25th Anniversary compilation Blue Muse, Taj showcases his delicately playful finger-style guitar work and his encyclopedic knowledge of American music playing the tune in a completely new way but somehow retaining it’s deep connection to Mississippi John Hurt.
