Listen: Let’s Make Love

On “Let’s Make Love” Larry Shores’ voice exemplifies a cowboy tenderness in all its mythic glory. It also tells a story that I believe every person listening can find themselves in. Often, I hear the tales of lost love and loneliness in country songs and I think first that I am so glad that I haven’t know those feelings for a long time. But when I listen to Larry singing, I hear the romance of the chorus “Let’s make love one more time like we used to” and I kind of want to go to that place. But that kind of longing just lives in song. That’s the trouble of making sad stories so lovely. It really wouldn’t be any fun at all, that’s the truth.
