Diggin’: Drink Small – Widow Woman
inTheir Musicon September 28, 2017
Drink Small’s bass voice is sweet and savory, his storytelling is wry and real. But on “Widow Woman” it’s the way he plays that sparse, delicate guitar riff steadily looping behind his voice, setting off the low with the high, that makes this particular song so captivating. Drink Small is known as the blues doctor because he can play all the styles–indeed, it’s the artists who have been around the block who know how to distill a song down to its most important elements, just like good medicine. Less can be way, way, more.
