Boo Hanks At Home With “Pickin’ Low Cotton”

Thank you so much to everyone who has made an Annual Fund, purchased something in our store, or has just wished us well – the response to our Black Friday sale and #GivingTuesday was wonderful. We truly appreciate all your support! So does Boo Hanks, and he wanted to play something special for you. Our intern Swathi visited Boo a little while ago, and filmed him performing at his home.
Boo Hanks has been a Music Maker Partner Artist since 2006. Before then, Boo had never played outside his home community, but he is an immense talent with his true Piedmont Blues style. Boo plays in the style of Blind Boy Fuller, and since partnering with Music Maker he has shared his music at various prestigious venues including the Lincoln Center.
During the winter, gigs are fewer and Boo’s expenses rise, as he has to buy heating oil to warm his home. Music Maker not only works strenuously to find work for Boo, we also provide Sustenance Grants for his heating oil. Your support ensures basic needs are met for artists like Boo, so they can focus on their art.
