The string-band tradition has always been carried on through master and apprentice relationships. Mt. Airy fiddler Andy Edmonds followed in that great tradition by studying at the feet of fiddle great and Music Maker partner artist Benton Flippen. While Andy’s style is representative of the region and Benton’s fiddle playing his style is still somehow singular with a more modern sound. Andy’s version of Benton’s signature tune, Benton’s Dream, is totally rippin’ and captures the essence of a late night jam at Mt. Airy or Galax Fiddler’s Convention.
