Duffy, the Founder of Music Maker Relief Foundation, celebrating it’s 20th Anniversary this year, and Greenhood, the organization’s Artist Services Coordinator, began experimenting with Tin Type photography almost two years ago as a new way to preserve the images of musicians they work with. Music Maker partners with elderly traditional musicians to elevate their careers, meet their basic needs and document their talents and stories for future generations. Music Maker Tin Type benefits the foundation by providing photography services to artists, as well as donating any proceeds from Tin Type sales to the organization.

The photographs on display at the Skylight Gallery will be housed at the Timothy Duffy Collection, a part of the Southern Folklife Collection at UNC Chapel Hill’s Wilson Library. There they will be available to anyone who is interested in learning the contemporary history of Roots musicians and the people working to help them.
