MMRF volunteer Karen Mack and her husband Greg are curating a 40-piece exhibition of folk art hosted by The Orange County Main Public Library in Hillsborough, NC. “Road Trip: Folk Art from Mike’s Art Truck” will run from January 24 through March 24.

Longtime collectors of “outsider art” and friends of many artists, the Macks founded Mike’s Art Truck to promote and sell the work of self-taught living artists. The artwork offered for sale is either owned by the artists or has been purchased directly from them. Having no brick-and-mortar location, Mike’s Art Truck is a “virtual” gallery. Artwork is shown through cooperation with other galleries and businesses, and displayed and sold online at www.mikesarttruck.com. Just as there is no real gallery, there is no real truck, only an imaginary one driven by their cat Mike.

Karen started volunteering with Music Maker in 2013, and has been a wonderful help; from folding letters precisely, to stuffing envelopes, to transcribing recipes – she does not turn down a task that is asked of her!

A reception for the exhibit will be held on Saturday, February 1, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Main Library where the Macks will discuss the art and artists, and be available to answer questions. We’re pretty excited for Karen – hope you’re in the area and can make it!

Admission to the exhibit, the library, and the reception is free. More info at www.mikesarttruck.com.
