A benefit for Music Maker Relief Foundation, featuring the Grammy-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops and R&B Legend Ironing Board Sam, will be held at The Hamilton in Washington, D.C. on September 3rd. The Music Maker Relief Foundation is an organization dedicated to preserving our Southern Roots, forming partnerships with elderly traditional musicians to elevate their careers, assist them with basic life needs, and educate audiences about America’s musical heritage.
Members of the Music Maker Board of Directors, the Carolina Chocolate Drops are an award winning group, performing the traditional music of the South and educating audiences about African-American musical influence. Ironing Board Sam is a Music Maker Partner Artist, a former star of the first televised African-American music revue, The Night Train. Living Blues Magazine recently named him “Comeback Artist of the Year”.
