How We Helped:
Mudcat became a member of the Music Maker family in 1995. He has helped forge friendships with Music Maker artists Mr. Frank Edwards, Robert Lee Coleman, Neal Pattman, Cora Mae Bryant, Cootie Stark, Albert White, Beverly “Guitar” Watkins, and Eddie Tigner. Mudcat has toured throughout the United States with the Music Maker Blues Revue, and headlined the Winston Blues Revival tour beside the legendary Taj Mahal. He recorded his CDs Freedom Creek, I’ll Be Young Once Too, Kickin’ Chicken, and The Mess Is On with Music Maker, and is part of numerous other Music Maker compilation recordings, Mudcat has performed at a great many fundraisers for Music Maker, and is featured in the book Music Makers: Portraits and Songs from the Roots of America (2004).

 

Born in St. Paul on the banks of the Mississippi River and raised on Tybee Island, Georgia, Mudcat began engaging audiences while traveling and busking on the sidewalks and at fairs throughout the US. Mudcat has apprenticed under many American musical pioneers, including Frank Edwards, Cootie Stark, Cora Mae Bryant, Neal Pattman, Dickey Betts, and Taj Mahal.
